Note

Mary Elizabeth Sanders was born and brought up in Gunnislake, Calstock which is north of Plymouth but on the Cornish side of the River Tamar. Her parents were John, a stonemason and Elizabeth. By 1901 they had moved to 35 Grenville Road in the centre of Plymouth. Mary makes dresses at home, an occupation which continues in the 1911 census. This census records that she had three siblings but all had died by the time of the census in April 1911.
