Note

Death of Margaret Smith, wife of Thomas Leask (1813). Bayanne shows that she died in about 1854, just having married Gavin Goudie on 23 Mar 1854 (ref 003 40 /214). However, the marriage record is for Margaret Smith and not Margaret Leask; and census records seem to show that as Margaret Goudie she lived beyond 1854, and had further children.

I'm going with the death of Margaret Leask in 1855 Sandwick and Cunningsburgh, ref 003/ 2 /59

So what happened to the four children, the youngest of whom, Eric Smith, would have been 9 at time of his mother's death.
